What is life and how to live it
We are the only species that spends its existence trying to figure out what it means to exist. We arrive in a world whose past we did not witness and whose beginning we did not choose. Yet we find ourselves here- called into existence, already part of its silent continuity tasked with painting our own stroke without ever being shown the full canvas.
We are the only species of living being that weave through the fabric of its existence trying to justify it- a temporary pulse of energy asking the eternal answers. In this ever-shifting dance, we are the point where the finite heart beat meets the infinite “why” turning our brief transit into metaphysical anchor. While the rest of the natural world is content to simply be-to hunt, to grow and to survive- we are burdened with the unique “glitch” of self-awareness. We do not live; we watch ourself living; and in that watching we begin to ask why.
Here inquiry begins with the question “What is Life.” It explores the “Loom of Being” tracing the raw threads of human life itself – from creation of universe to creation of life, from raw instinct of first breath to the full ripening of our consciousness; from human actions to responsibilities and ethics and finally arriving at the inevitable horizon of death. Yet, the death does not end the enquiry rather opens the door to deeper understanding probing the enigma of mortality and possible immortality. It deepens it, inviting us to continue the timeless search for the meaning of life and existence.
The reflection on how life may be lived emerges in the next stage of this exploration. The work takes this map and turns it into compass focusing on the “Art of Living”. It shifts from the biological journey of the body to the intentional voyage of the soul teaching us how to finally pick up the needle and weave a life of meaning from consciousness, we have fought so hard to mature. What wisdom can truly illuminate the human path and show how life ought to be lived. How to live a life is not meant to be a rulebook for individuals driven by their own ego, but a reflection of wisdom that points toward a life of peace. At the deepest level, every human being longs to live in harmony. Chaos is not the true order of living; it is often the shadow cast by our restless pursuits. Our goal here isn’t to find a single, rigid formula for existence, but to learn how to carry the weight of our consciousness with grace. We will look at the mechanics of our survival and architecture of our fulfilment, turning the burden of being human into our greatest advantage.
This book did not arise from philosophy alone but from life lived, observed and quietly reflected upon. As a physician author spent decades of studying the human body, its organs, tissues, the cells and intricate working of life that sustain every human function. Science revealed the remarkable architecture of the body with great clarity, yet the deeper question remained unanswered: Why life functions at all. Between what science can explain and what experience silently suggests a quiet space of inquiry-what is life gradually opened.
Even the origin of life itself remains veiled in uncertainty and its mystery extending human inquiry from chemistry of Earth to the vast possibilities of the cosmos. This mystery does not merely baffle the mind; it deepens our wonder and draws us into the more profound search for meaning.
Over many years of his family and professional life, certain events unfolded that seemed neither accidental nor carefully designed but miraculous and beyond imagination-as if guided by a deeper order underlying the visible laws of nature. At times his intuition seemed to illuminate possibilities that lay beyond the limits of reason and physical explanation.
In search of long inquiry into what life is and what it means to be human author gradually found an unexpected resonance in the spiritual traditions preserved across the cultures and ages. He devoted himself to seeking truth through the autobiographies and reflections of great mystics, sadhus and, seers, enlightened beings and spiritual teachers, both ancient and modern- from different traditions of the world. Their experiences and insight seemed to point beyond visible world towards a distant deeper reality- that reality extend beyond the physical realm- the subtle source from which the thought arises and laws of cause and effect finds its ground. What began as a biological question gradually unfolded into a contemplation of existence itself.
And now; From this long reflection emerged a fundamental question: “What is human”; “what is life and how to live it?” This book is an exploration of that restlessness within us- a small step towards the ultimate question that humanity continues to whisper, inviting mind to look beyond itself. It bridges the gap between biological miracle of what life is; the hardware and the moral art of how to live it; the software of existence. It acknowledges that because we are the only ones asking the questions, we are also the only ones responsible for dreaming the answers.
The question of what is life may never end, yet in the sincerity of asking it, the wisdom of living quietly begins to unfold.
Enter this journey of inquiry and allow the question What is Life to unfolds its meaning in the experience of being human.
